Susan Buchbinder, MD

Susan Buchbinder, MD is the Director of Bridge HIV and a Clinical Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Buchbinder focuses her research on risk factors for HIV acquisition and interventions to prevent HIV infection, including HIV vaccines, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), topical agents (vaginal and rectal microbicides, vaginal rings), home HIV and STI testing, behavioral interventions, and combination modalities, with a focus on addressing disparities. She serves in leadership positions in the HIV Vaccine Trials Network and HIV Prevention Trials Network, is PI of an NIH-funded Clinical Trials Unit, and has participated in numerous NIH and UCSF advisory committees. She is a founding member and co-chair of Getting to Zero San Francisco, a consortium based on collective impact that aims to eliminate new HIV infections, HIV-associated deaths, and HIV stigma in San Francisco.
