The Rectal Revolution is Here!

In July 2013, Bridge HIV, in collaboration with the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN), San Francisco AIDS Foundation, Be The Generation, sponsored a screening of the educational and entertaining film The Rectal Revolution is Here!. The screening was followed by speakers and discussion to help introduce the idea of rectal microbicides and future research studies to the San Francisco community.

The Microbicide Trials Network (MTN) is a U.S. National Institutes of Health-funded worldwide collaborative clinical trials network focused on preventing the sexual transmission of HIV.

MTN-017 was the first phase II clinical trial of a rectal microbicide. The study enrolled 195 men who have sex with men from 8 clinical research sites on 4 continents to study the safety and acceptability of a rectally-applied tenofovir gel.
